I like to think of September as a month of endings and beginnings, also, a month with a lot of happenings. After spending the last few weeks parading in our skimpy bikinis and barely there heels, we have to bid farewell to the warmest season and welcome a new one. We have to start covering up and storing our sunny wardrobe inside a box or drawer. Fashion seems to agree with me, not only because September is also known as the Fashion Month (I like to think the industry makes the “warmer to colder” transition easier by giving us next year’s Spring collections) but also because the most important issue for a magazine is the September one (but you already know that).

Each year, we all wait for the big reveal: Who got which cover. Who shot the most covers. Which designer clothes were photographed the most. Which magazine killed it. That’s why, as it’s tradition here at Sweet n’raw, I have all the September Issue scoop right here for you! Are you ready to start?

The worst cover (my humble opinion)? Vogue US, weak, boring and overrated

The guilty pleasure? Cowgirl Adriana Lima for Garage

Just another day at the office…

I am happily and willingly stranded in a little piece of heaven called Acapulco, that explains my 8-day absence. After a long and cruel European winter and my big move back home, my corpse-like skin (poor thing didn’t see the sun in over 8 months) desperately needed the sea and the sun. Trust me, it hasn’t been easy to have my body understand that I am no vampire and that 7 months ago I was walking the fine line between a tanned Barbie and a Jersey guido (I have developed all sorts of rashes and sun allergies that one can possibly imagine). Anyway, I will get back my normal, non “Casper the friendly ghost” skin tone while soaking up the beautiful Acapulco sun!

Oh and just so you know, I’m wearing lots of sunscreen.

It’s almost Friday, hang in there!

Sweet kisses…

The September Issue Brief: VOGUE

Yup, I made my own cover, and I’m wearing fabulous Haider Ackermann

Hello sweet readers! I won’t blame you if you are somewhat pissed at me for not posting for a while. But I am back with loads of new material to share with you. And since Fashion Week is just around the corner, we are all getting pretty excited here! September is not only about S/S runways, it’s also about those glossy, chunky and monthly fashion bibles, commonly known as magazines. Every September they dedicate countless pages to the biggest trends of the coming season: What to wear, how to wear it, how to pair it, what to buy, and more! Lots and lots of pages, filled with lots and lots of fashion. J’adore! So let’s see what Vogue has in store for us this month!

Cover girl: Kate Moss

She is wearing: Alexander McQueen A/W 2011 (modified dress)

Photographer: Mario Testino

What we thought: Definitely one of our favorites! Kate Moss was the right person to grace the cover of such an important issue. Not only because of her fabulous wedding and her stunning self, but also because when it comes to fashion, she is the queen of all models. Shot by Mario Testino, the spread is as expected, elegant and romantic but with Kate written all over it.

Cover girl: Freja Beha Erichsen

She is wearing: Dolce & Gabbana

Photographer: Mario Testino

What we thought: Everybody loves Freja, and it is more than obvious that everybody loves Mr. Testino. This choice was an unexpected surprise, but a good one. There is something about this girl, she is intoxicating, intriguing. Even for those who don’t now who she is, you can’t help but stare, open the mag, and look for her spread. Add some sequins to the mix, she is a seller! Plus, this girl is already part of Fashion’s history, she will be timeless, just like Kate.

Cover girl: Charlotte Casiraghi

She is wearing: Close-up, inside the magazine: Gucci, Balmain…

Photographer: Mario Testino

What we thought: I have to confess something, I am literally drooling over this cover. Some might say Emanuelle Alt’s choice was boring and might not like the close-up. I say it’s mind-blowing. We can forget about the royalty thing, she is just stunning, has an incredible sense of fashion and elegance, runs her own fashion magazine, one of the Kaiser’s favorite girls and Gucci’s pampered one. And she has Grace Kelly’s glamour. Does this girl deserve a Vogue cover? She certainly does. Was it a bold choice? For sure, but also a winner one! And she is close-up material, I bet even her pores are gorgeous.

Cover girl: Karolina Kurkova

She is wearing: Giorgio Armani

Photographers: Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin

What we thought: This is fun, and different. So different that Karolina can barely be recognized. You can call it wild, you can call it funky, but the result is divine. She was photographed by a duo that is so happening right now, the talented Inez & Vinoodh. Wearing an A/W 2011 t-shirt with the face of a younger Giorgio Armani, Karolina has got it going on!

Cover girl: Natasha Poly

She is wearing: Inside Prada, Céline, DKNY, D&G, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Balenciaga by Nicolas Ghesquière, Burberry Prorsum

Photographer: Hedi Slimane

What we think: The cover is very russian, very sexy, and very blonde. Also a bit boring. It’s nothing new, but Natasha’s beauty and sensuality make up for the lack of novelty. Inside we can see Poly channeling a mod chick, and rocking those prada boots like no one else.

Cover girls: Eva Herzigova, Claudia Schiffer, Helena Christensen

They are wearing: Dolce & Gabbana

Photographer: Tom Munro

What we thought: The styling was great and was done by Domenico and Stefano. I’m kind of growing to love those stars even if at first I didn’t like them that much. But allow me to be blunt, three women like Claudia, Eva and Helena (a personal favorite) should be able to make paper burn just by looking at it. This women do not need stars to sizzle, they already make it happen on their own. This cover does not do any justice to them, Helena doesn’t look as fab as she usually is, Claudia looks mean and Eva, well Eva takes the shot. I was expecting more from it.

VEREDICT: Royalty takes the cake, no cover can measure up to Charlotte’s!

I hope you liked it folks! Be sure to check back for some new posts. My oven is full!

Sweet kisses…

The Daily Fashion Bread

Hello sweet readers, for you today (aside from the usual post coming your way later tonight) a new section, a brief rundown of fashion’s biggest happenings. So fresh and out of the oven, enjoy your choice of bread.
  • Lanvin mastermind, Alber Elbaz unveils kids line: This man just keeps on going, and he is apparent destination seems to be perfection. Once again Lanvin’s creative director pulled off another magnificent move by presenting his little girls only collection, consisting of 25 gorgeous little pieces. The collection will be available from November. And by the looks of it, these dresses are Fashion Week worthy, just in smaller sizes,
  • A taste of Angelina Jolie’s campaign ads for Louis Vuitton was released yesterday. Shot in Cambodia (location chosen by the actress herself) by the talented photographer, Annie Leibovitz. Brad Pitt’s other half appears wearing her own clothes, with no make-up (just a little photshop), barefoot and carrying her own LV tote, sitting on a wooden boat. And although I do not support LV”s choice of celebrity testimonial, I think it is nice she is donating a part of her 10m deal to charity.
  • Dakota Fanning’s ads for Marc Jacobs’ “Oh Lola” stir controversy. Too sexy, suggestive, sexually charged, not proper for her age, even some are saying it could be labeled as child pornography. My opinion, I kind of like them, they have that Lolita vibe, Marc Jacobs himself stated that this was the look he was going for. The dress is cute, and for those who say it looks like she is holding a fallus between her legs, that’s just dirty, and mean.
  • Emma Watson, Vogue USA’s newest covergirl. All grown and revamped, the Harry Potter star graces the front page of America’s biggest fashion magazine. Sporting some luscious berry lips, Emma opens up about life, fame, fashion and beauty, wearing nothing but the best, McQueen, Tom Ford, Dolce & Gabbana, and more. She looks great,I just wish she would let her hair grow.
Check back later for my daily post,
Sweet kisses…
