I’ve never been a fan of the Balenciaga City, not because I don’t like it, but because it became an aspirational bag. You know, the bag every girl wants to have or already owns but wants in every color and size. I’m not saying I hate trendy stuff (half of the content in this blog are new trends and styles), I just don’t like overrated.
I have a bucket list, a bag bucket list, a list of bags I’m gonna buy, own and wear someday (someday soon I hope). My number one has always been the nude Chanel 2.55, a classic that will never go out of style and since it’s vintage Chanel (not those ghastly hula hoop things Uncle Karl has been doing lately), you can never go wrong . My second one is a new entry, the LV Vivienne. Never been a fan of Vuitton, but that little shoulder bag just stole my heart (and it doesn’t have the annoying monogram print). The list goes on and on and on and it keeps growing. And recently, that overrated Balenciaga city made the list and got its illustration. Why? Because they made it pink and little (remember my love for those little bags?), and who can say no to a pretty pink bag? Not me, that’s for sure!
I agree, the process of getting ready and all dolled-up for a weekend night out is fun, exciting and even more fun when a glass of wine or several glasses are involved. But every once in a while, and I made a ritual out of this while living in Milan, a night by yourself, in your pajamas is all you need. Life goes on at a crazy pace, so every now and then, our bodies and minds need a breather.
My breather involves a good book (The Game of Thrones series is now inside my Kindle), a good movie or series (nothing dark, something funny or romantic), a bottle (okay, two bottles) of Cabernet (or Merlot, or Malbec but not Shiraz, I hate Shiraz), a bowl of pasta (it’s tastier than pizza and it makes you feel less of a pig after the pigout), a box of Mr. Stanley’s classic fudge (my drug and a potential drug for you if you haven’t tried it) and a big-ass slice of carrot cake. The next day? That’s when the cucumber/mint/lemon detox begins.
Fan of enjoying your own company every once in a while? If not, you should try it sometime!
Have a lovely weekend folks!
It’s the first post of the year and yes, I have been MIA for a couple of weeks now (and I deeply apologize for my absence). Let me start off by wishing you a wonderful year 2014! I hope you had a lot of fun in your holidays! I hope those skinny, skinny jeans still zip after the “eating and drinking” extravaganza. I hope you had a wonderful time around your families and loved ones! And last but not least, I hope you are ready to work hard and play hard so you can make 2014 the best year of your life.
I’ve always been a New Year’s Resolutions kind of gal, stop smoking, drink less beer, hit the gym at least 4 times a week, smile more, worry less, call my friends often, spend quality time with my family, be organized, write and draw my ideas more clearly (trying to guess what I was thinking when I drew that illegible scrawl on my Moleskine is as annoying as a butt pimple) and my list could go on and on… Sticking to those resolutions is hard, but when there’s a reward at the end of the sacrifice tunnel, things get easier, happier and really, really exciting. So here for you, even though we are halfway through January already, the Sophie Rewards.
Every resolution needs a reward! Why? Because rewards taste so damn good!
What are your resolutions and rewards?
