Hello, hello my sweet readers! This is the fifth post from our Spring 2013 Trend Report and since we do need to cover the rest of the trends (if it were for me, I’d stick to candy shades, lace and floral print), today I have an edgier one: THE SPORTS AUTHORITY.
It’s been a while since the “sporty” look took over the fashion world and I’m definitely beginning to embrace it. But I have embraced sporty garments as separates (I really, really despise the white tee-joggers-spiked converse-bomber look some girls can’t seem to stop wearing) not as a total look: a bomber with a flirty dress, a mesh tee with a pair of tapered trousers or a pair of runners with a button-down and a blazer to get an the sport edge and a chic vibe as well. In fashion, when we say joggers, we don’t actually mean those Nike running pants. When we say runners, it’s not about those Adidas shorts with the inner brief. When we say cropped top, we are not talking about a sports bra (well, we could make an exception for Stella McCartney for Adidas, since most of the pieces can definitely be worn as daywear).
WHO DID IT?
- DKNY / Alexander Wang / 3.1 Phillip Lim
- Milly / Stella McCartney / Rag & Bone
Designers really have gone the extra mile by giving their garments that athletic, but always stylish touch. Joggers? They come in every color and fabric: emerald silk, pink crepe and the classic grey jersey. Runners? Leopard print and military style!
MUST-HAVE PIECES: A sporty skater dress (zip in the front screams athletic), a bunch of joggers (silk, crepe, jersey), they are lifesavers when wanting a casual but chic look, a bomber or two, or three (I’m a bomber lover and I will always be).
