Oh the sweet smell of Resort…. There’s not one thing I love the most than to open Style.com to find the latest reviews of the shows. Resort is that guilty pleasure we fashion lovers have while we wait for the next S/S in September. For those of you that are not familiar of the Resort concept, it is a Ready-to-Wear collection presented in between seasons (F/W & S/S). The reason: offer more choice to those jetsetters or just people who are going on holiday. So since many shows have already been presented, starting with Chanel, which you can read all about HERE, let’s start dissecting our first three.
NINA RICCI: Replacing Oliver Theysken seems like an impossible task. Those are some big, genious, shoes to fill. But in these two years as creative director of the brand, Peter Copping has demonstrated he not only gets the brand’s essence but has complete control of it. And Resort 2012 was perfect proof. Hourglass silhouettes, romantic and soft shapes, candy colors but also neutrals. The 50’s and 60’s influence still going strong, portraying an elegant and ladylike woman. But also a dramatic tone to the collection with the long gowns. The shoes, perfection. I’d say lovely, what do you think?
EMILIO PUCCI: We are now used to big sex atmosphere that we get from Pucci, collection after collection (I love Pucci for that). For Resort 2012, Peter Dundas gave us a lighter dose. The collection was mainly composed by cropped pantsuits in sherbet shades. Supertight jeans paired up with perfectly tailored jackets and shirts. He gave us zebra, zebra is the new python for Cruise. Of course the prints were present, and the sexy vibes too. With see-trough and long dresses, letting us see a peek of bikini. Special mention to the house’s tailoring skills, the garments looked flawless, flattering and painted on the model.
LANVIN: I cannot begin to express my admiration for the genious mind that is Alber Elbaz. A man who not only does good stuff on the runway, but every year he does it even better. This season, Mr. Elbaz blew us wasy with a mix of mettalic lamè, delicate draping, togas and fringe perfection. And in the middle of all that madness, a white maxi dress, so beautiful my eyes hurt just by looking at it. Of course very ensemble was perfectly accessorized with chunky necklaces, chokers, beads, brooches. Monsieur Elbaz definitely know how to season his concoctions. Overall, beautiful. And just because he can, he gave us the perfect ending to a perfect line, he presented his little girl collection. Let the images speak for themselves. J’adore Lanvin!
